Reese Witherspoon’s career is going from hot to cold, but not in the way you’re thinking.

Lionsgate has acquired the supernatural thriller Cold, it was announced on Monday. The film, which is based on an original pitch by screenwriter Bill Marsilii (Déjá Vu), will star Witherspoon. The Oscar winner is also producing the picture along with Bruna Papandrea through their Pacific Standard Films banner.

Witherspoon is no stranger to pulling double duty on a film. She produced and starred in Wild last year. The film received rave reviews from critics and Witherspoon garnered her second Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. The 39-year-old also produced the David Fincher adaptation, Gone Girl, in 2014.

However, her last film, Hot Pursuit, crashed and burned at the box office and drew the ire of critics. Witherspoon’s next project is the HBO limited series Big Little Lies, which she’ll star in and produce alongside Nicole Kidman.

She’ll next appear on the big screen in Downsizing, a comedy-drama in which a man decides to shrink himself in order to have a better life. Downsizing, which also stars Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, Jason Sudeikis and Neil Patrick Harris, is set for a Christmas Day release in 2017.

Witherspoon and Papandrea formed Pacific Standard Films in 2012. The Hollywood Reporter was first to report this story.
