Rumors Of 170-Minute Long 'Justice League' Denied

Justice League screened more brand new footage at Warner Brothers' CinemaCon panel on March 29, and had additional rumors spread about its running time being confirmed. Yet despite IMDb.com and others claiming that Justice League would run at a whopping 170 minutes, an unnamed insider told The Wrap that it isn't true.

The Wrap's Beatrice Verhoeven reported "an individual with close knowledge of the project" denied the run time rumors, saying "Filmmakers aren’t close to knowing the precise runtime as of now." Yet considering how the R-rated cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was about three hours, and how Zack Snyder is no stranger to almost three hour superhero movies, a 170 minute Justice League isn't that unlikely, especially in a time where The Fate of the Furious could be 160 minutes long.

Since this film is bringing Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg together, using their various supporting characters, resurrecting Superman, introducing Steppenwolf and possibly laying the grounds for Darkseid, perhaps three hours may well be needed to do all of this justice. Of course, whether Snyder and the current DCEU regime can finally prove themselves as the right people to give them such justice is the major question of the day.

With the official debut trailer last weekend and the new CinemaCon panel, Warner Bros has been working extra hard lately to prove things will be different this time. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the footage introduced at CinemaCon was particularly "banter-heavy" including a scene with Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne and Ezra Miller's Barry Allen seeing the Batsignal go up, and one where Bruce is showing Gal Gadot's Diana/Wonder Woman his work on a new vehicle.

Whether Justice League is almost three hours long or only a little over two, there's surely much more that hasn't been revealed yet either way. In any case, fans will sit themselves in theaters to find out everything, no matter how long it takes, on Nov. 17.
