The latter months of the year bring about what I like to call “bigger” independent films. You know, the movies that have gained traction throughout the year thanks to positive receptions at film festivals and are poised to make a splash during award season.

October gave us one of those films with The Birth of a Nation. Unfortunately, the critical acclaim couldn’t outweigh the negative press of the film’s director and star Nate Parker, and audiences were simply not interested.

November brings a few more buzz-worthy films with Loving, Manchester by the Sea, and Nocturnal Animals. All of three of which make the cut for the 11 Indie movies to see during the month.

Tags: Loving (2016), Elle (2016), The Love Witch, Notes on Blindness, Manchester by the Sea (2016), Nocturnal Animals (2016), Lion (2016), Evolution, Ruth Negga, Michael Shannon, Nick Kroll, Isabelle Huppert, Michelle Williams, Kyle Chandler, Amy Adams, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Armie Hammer, Tom Ford, Garth Davis, Rooney Mara, Nicole Kidman, Joel Edgerton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Paul Verhoeven, Samantha Robinson, Casey Affleck, Jake Gyllenhaal, Dev Patel
